EDL (Emergency Download) mode is a low-level boot mode on Qualcomm chipsets that allows you to unbrick devices even when they won't turn on. This guide shows how to use CheckerTR PRO to flash Qualcomm devices in EDL mode.

What is EDL Mode?

EDL mode is a fail-safe mode built into Qualcomm chipsets. It doesn't require the Android system to boot, making it the last resort for bricked devices. You can identify EDL mode when the device shows nothing on screen but is detected as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" on your PC.

Devices Supported

  • Xiaomi with Qualcomm chipsets (Snapdragon)
  • Samsung Galaxy with Snapdragon
  • OnePlus, Oppo, Realme with Qualcomm chips
  • Any device using Qualcomm Snapdragon 600/700/800 series

Step 1: Enter EDL Mode

  1. Power off the device completely
  2. Press and hold both Volume Up + Volume Down
  3. Connect USB cable to PC
  4. On PC, check Device Manager for "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008"

Step 2: Open CheckerTR PRO

  1. Launch CheckerTR PRO
  2. Go to Qualcomm Module
  3. Select EDL Flashing

Step 3: Load Firehose Programmer

Select the correct Firehose (programmer) file for your device. CheckerTR PRO includes a database of programmers for most Qualcomm devices.

Step 4: Flash Firmware

  1. Select the firmware files you want to flash
  2. Click Start Flashing
  3. Wait for the process to complete — don't disconnect the device

⚠️ Warning: EDL flashing can permanently damage your device if done incorrectly. Always use the correct Firehose file for your specific model. CheckerTR PRO validates files before flashing.

Troubleshooting

"Device not detected in EDL"

Install Qualcomm USB drivers. Try a different USB 2.0 port. Some devices require test point or EDL cable.

"Firehose file not found"

CheckerTR PRO will suggest compatible programmers. You can also download the correct one from our database.

"Flash failed at partition X"

Try flashing individual partitions instead of the full firmware. Start with boot and recovery partitions.
